Daylight Savings Time

And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: (Rev 10:6).

One definition of “time” is: : the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues. To me it is a unit of measurement. This morning, in most places in the U.S. we have set our clocks back one hour to change the “time” back to “normal time” or "standard time". Question:  Have we saved any time this year by adjusting our clocks ahead in the Spring and back in the Fall? None that I can see.

Daylight savings time has been a aggressively debated subject over the years not only in the United States, but in other parts of the world. Several countries have experimented with changing how we measure time. The Soviet Union tried to enforce five and six day weeks between 1929 and 1931, which failed and led to the 7 day week being reinstated in 1940. France attempted to introduce a 10-hour clock after the French Revolution. Many rulers of many nations have tried to adjust time. But there is still just 24 hours in each day.

Although I am not an ‘expert on time’ I do not want to do any studies on the subject (I don’t have the time). When we think of a 24 hour day, we actually only have 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.2 seconds. That is the time it takes for the earth to rotate on its axis. So therefore we have a leap year every four years. There is one thing that everyone has in common in this world, and that is that we all live by ‘time’. We eat, sleep, work, travel, plan, make appointments, and live by time. Quite possibly there are billions of watches sold around the world each year. Many use their cell phones as watches in addition to their pocket, and wrist watches. So time is important to each of us. And for each of us on this earth, it is limited. And many do whatever it takes to extend our time. The Bible says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation” (Heb 9:27-28). We are all on this earth for a limited time.

None of us are really “saving any time” the way I see it. So we must make the best of the time that God has given us. We all have an “appointment”. As followers of Christ (Christians) let us all tithe our time to the Lord as we do our money. A question to ask ourselves: Am I spending time with God each day in prayer and in His word?  If we tithe (which we should do), are we spending two to three hours per day with Him?   My thoughts.  Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matt 22:37). We must be obedient and honor Him in all of our ways while on this earth (Pro 3:6). When Jesus comes in the clouds to receive us, we won’t have to be concerned with time any longer.  Let's "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name" (Ps 29:2).

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee (helped you): behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation ( 2 Cor 6:2). The Bible tells us that NOW is the day of salvation. That means NOW is the “accepted time and we must tell others of the great sacrifice Christ has made for all of us. We must continue to preach the gospel to all that will hear (Mark 16:15). Multitudes are dying and leaving this world without Christ in their lives. They have ran out of “time”. More than 153,00 people die each day so that comes to around 107 people per minute (2 per second). There is room in heaven for everyone. There’s still room at the cross (don't we love that song?).

Again, our job is to tell them.

There is no time to “save” (or time to lose) – Time is Limited

Dear Friend:  If you are reading or listening to this short message and do not have the Lord Jesus in your life, or you do not know Him in a personal way, (and that means serving Him daily), please know this: Your time is limited on earth. Now is the “accepted time” to call upon Him and ask forgiveness (2 Cor 6:2). Today. Jesus is waiting (Rev 3:20). None of us know about tomorrow my friend. After our “time” runs out on earth, it will be too late.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

(Rom 10:9-10).

Confess and Receive Him where you stand or sit

(John 1:12-13).

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved

(Rom 10:13).
