Where do we go from here?

"Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?"

(John 14:5).

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).

The year 2020 has brought much death and heartache to the world. It has brought more evil than ever seen before; and here in the United States, it has brought this country to a greater division than I can remember. And it looks like we are about to fall even further away.

Without trying to ‘take sides’ or cause ‘further division’ among people, I will proclaim confidently that the biggest problem we have is that many do NOT “fear God” “And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake” (Gen 20:11). Abraham knew the calamities that could happen when people did not fear God. He thought Abimelech would bring harm.

“There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Rom 3:18). For many in this world, there is no fear of God. Paul stressed this to the Romans. And it remains the same today.

“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” (Eph 5:21). The Apostle Paul gives all of us some very ‘sound’ advice. We must fear God.

We as followers of Christ, see God’s name being blasphemed and His holy word being mocked from many. Not only among the general population, but all the way up through our government, Hollywood, and the big media networks. How did we get here? Again, I truly believe that we have lost the “fear of God” or “have never been taught to fear God”. God has not just been “pushed to the back burner,” but I will state “HE has been pushed off the stove completely”. There is NO FEAR OF GOD.

Now that we’ve identified the problem, here comes the big question for all of us.

Where do we go from here?

For those of us who can, I suggest our next move is to our knees. Let us as ‘followers of Christ’ repent and beg forgiveness for our part and to ask GOD to clean out the corners of our lives that we have neglected. With repentant hearts, let us ask Him to truly let Jesus be our guide in every breath we take. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).  Daniel did it. “he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime” (Dan 6:10b).

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” (Eph 3:14). Paul did it. Multitudes who went on before us did it.

Some times it is not easy for some to be physically, on their knees.  David, who spent a lot of time on his knees, also prayed upon his bed. “When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches” (Ps 63:6).  We should take the time.  Did you know that there is 1440 minutes in every day? And if you spend 5 minutes per day with God, it will come out to be 3/10ths of 1 %.  So our tithes are 10% but our time with God is 3/10ths of 1%.  That seems lacking to me.  And I am including myself in this message. I find myself lacking.

There will come a time when “every knee shall bow”. The time is coming soon. “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Rom 14:11). Why not bend the knee now?

*********************************************************************************************

And if you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior,

Where do you go from here?

Thomas asked “how can we know the way?”.

And Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth and the life;
no man cometh unto the Father but by Me”.

My friend: If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, of if you do not know who He is or anything about Him, now is the time to get it right. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh (John 1:14) (John 1:3). The Bible is a fact and the inspired word of God (2 Tim 3:16). Jesus said “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). Call upon Him now while there is still time. When one receives Jesus (John 1:12) all things become crystal clear and you will then know “where to go from here”. Focus on Jesus, our Savior. He died for our sins (1 Cor 15:3b). And He is on His throne awaiting the time to come to get His own.

Repent (turn), Confess, and Follow.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Rom 10:9).

You’ll be so glad you did.
