And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven   (Col 1:20).

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God   (1 Cor 1:18).

♬ ♪  The cross upon which Jesus died
Is a shelter in which we can hide
And its grace so free is sufficient for me
And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea.   ♬

There's room at the cross for you • There's room at the cross for you
Though millions have come, there's still room for one
Yes there's room at the cross for you.   ♪

This is a portion of a simple but meaningful hymn written by Ira Stamphill in 1946. What a wonderful song. It is not just an invitation but an encouraging hymn. It is a hymn for today as it was yesterday.  Those of us that know this song are singing along with it right now.

Jesus said “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Rev 3:20) Note: He said the we have to open that door and receive Him. Have you heard that knock?   Or Has someone been sent to you in the past to tell you about this?  Or perhaps you read it on a highway billboard?  Let me just ask you this.  Are you tired of living a life of hopelessness and despair?

Many reject Jesus because they do not want to leave their lifestyle that they are living. But there are many who believe they have to do something for their salvation (i.e. works). There are even those who say you 'have to be baptized to be saved' (which is works).  They are wrong (Acts 10:43). (Trust me, you will have a burning desire to be baptized when you receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord of your life) “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved(Acts 16:31). “Christ died for our sins” (1 Cor 15:3b). He (Jesus) has already paid the price on the cross – it is for everyone who believes. Perhaps you believe you have committed sins that make it impossible to be saved. Consider these people in the Bible:

Moses, King David and Saul of Tarsus (later Paul) were all guilty of murder: They were saved because they believed. There was room at the cross for these three.

Mary Magdalene - prostitute: She was saved because she believed. There was room at the cross for Mary Magdalene.

Rahab the Harlot: She was saved because she believed. (Joshua 2:8-9) There was room at the cross for Rahab.

• The eunuch from Ethiopia who Philip had witnessed to: He believed and proclaimed Jesus Christ the Son of God. (Acts 8:37) He knew and there was room at the cross for him.

Thank God Almighty through Jesus Christ for declaring a person “righteousness”, (in spite of our sins and wickedness) by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,” (Rom 4:6) ( Rom 4:24). The last words that Jesus spoke from the cross were “it is finished” (John 19:30). There is nothing else to do except believe, repent and follow. By the way, let me add one more to the list of millions who believed and was saved.

Gary Waddell, who was a vile sinner, and lived a shameful life of iniquity breaking every commandment. He believed and repented of his sins and called out to Jesus to forgive him and save him (Rom 10:9-10) and he was saved. There was room at the cross for him over four decades ago when he received Jesus as his Savior and Lord (John 1:12-13) by faith.

There’s room at the cross still, for you. Regardless of what you have done, Jesus is waiting. He is coming soon to get His church (followers of Christ) (1 Thess 4:16-17) so please do not wait another minute. Call upon Him now (Rom 10:13), repent and receive the greatest gift to mankind. If you have not received Jesus as your Savior, the gift of salvation is still available to you at this moment. If you die in your sins without Christ, you will perish. We all have an appointment. (Heb 9:27).  Jesus said “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). Why wait while there is still room at the cross, where Jesus died? Jesus was raised from the dead and is waiting today.  He knows all about you.  Please Trust Him.

Simple message?  Yes it is.   Jesus made it simple so even a child could understand.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

For those of us who are followers of Christ, let's tell them that there is still room.

And "Keep telling 'em about Jesus".

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
