DIARY OF A BIBLE

“Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine”   (1 Tim 4:13).

JANUARY: A busy time for me. Several in my family have decided to read me through this year. They kept me busy for the first ten days, but they have forgotten me now.  Back on the shelf.

FEBRUARY: Early Spring Clean-up time. I was dusted yesterday and put in my place on the shelf. I must say that my owner did use me for a few minutes last week. He had been in an argument and was looking up some references to prove he was right but the other party still wasn’t convinced.  Back on the shelf.

MARCH: I had a busy day the first of the month. My owner was elected president of his men’s club, and he used me to prepare a speech.  He chose "be strong and of a good courage" from Deuteronomy.  He certainly didn't use any words in red so he wouldn't offend anyone.

APRIL: Grandpa visited us this month. He kept me on his lap for an hour reading Romans 1, Romans 10 and the 3rd Chapter of John. He seems to think more of me than my owner does or others in my own household.  I was thrilled to be taken down from the shelf and studied.

MAY: I have recently received a few green and brown stains on my pages. Some spring flowers were pressed in my pages.  And they mashed them down with other heavy books.

JUNE: I look like a scrapbook. They have stuffed me full of newspaper clippings - one of the girls was married. Someone has even stashed fifteen 10 dollar bills in Psalms, for a rainy day.

JULY: They put me in a suitcase today. I guess we are off on vacation. I wish I could stay home; I know I'll be closed up in this thing for at least two weeks and my pages will get wrinkled in the suitcase. Maybe someone will take me out while they’re looking for their swimsuit.

AUGUST: Still in the suitcase. I would feel much better sitting back on the shelf.

SEPTEMBER: Ahh, back home at last and in my old familiar place. I have a lot of company. Two astrology magazines, a copy of People, a “do it yourself” book, and a hardware catalog are stacked on top of me. I wish I could be read as much as they are. At least I’m not getting dusty.

OCTOBER: They read me a few minutes today. One of them is very sick. Right now I am sitting in the center of the coffee table. I think the Pastor is coming by for a visit and prayer.

NOVEMBER: Back in my old place. At least I was dusted off while on the coffee table a few days.

DECEMBER: The family is busy getting ready for the holidays. I guess I'll be covered up under wrapping paper, newspaper coupons and packages again – They no longer read from me but will tell a very brief Christmas story like they do on Christmas. They’re short on cash this Christmas and I think they forgot about the cash they stashed away in Psalms in June. Maybe next year.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

A special thanks to Daniel Gibson of Tennessee Valley Web Design for his involvement in promoting God's holy word and a safe stop on the internet.

Our Friend Daniel Gibson went home to be with the LORD on March 17, 2018

Without Danny the re-posting of this site would have been delayed for another year at least.  Glory to God for Him placing Dan in my path.
