Common but Unique

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”   (Jude 1:3).

Common Salvation: belonging to several

“To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior” (Titus 1:4).

For believers, we are saved, sealed and serving Jesus Christ and have a common salvation and a common faith. Jesus has paid the price for all who have received Him as their Savior and Lord (John 1:12). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).  He is the only way, nothing else and none other.

Our salvation may be common, but God made each of us unique. There are no two persons that are exactly alike. The same goes for each of our testimonies. Our talents and gifts may be similar, but each different.  We have slightly different gifts and talents given to us by our Creator. His desire for us is to use them to glorify God and win souls for Christ.  Your personal testimony may win a soul to Christ whereas mine will not to that same person. Our job is to proclaim the gospel of Christ to the world. “He that winneth souls is wise” (Pro 11:30b).

When we serve Jesus, we do it in our own way (if it aligns with the Bible and it brings honor and glory to God) and our own testimony is our best witness for Christ.  Jesus said this: “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor” (John 12:26).  Examine yourself regarding that service (2 Cor 13:5).

May I ask you 3 personal questions?

1. When you received Jesus, was there a major and noticeable change in your life?

2. When was the last time you gave your personal testimony to another individual?

3. If not sure, when are you going to start?

Let’s Tell ‘em about our Jesus.

Jesus said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mk 16:15).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:13).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Philippians 2:5-8“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
