A Prayer in the Air

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16b)
Question: How serious is Jesus about prayer? The word “prayer” is mentioned 114 times in the KJV Bible. The New Testament tells us that Jesus prayed more than three dozen times in different situations. The word “fervent” means ‘hot, burning, with great zeal and emotion.’
Does this describe your prayer life?
When praying, do not pray only for those you interact with, to just come to a certain church. But Pray with urgency for salvation for those, through Jesus Christ, by receiving Him (Jn 1:12), and following Him as a disciple (Jn 12:26). Pray that the Holy Ghost will touch their lives in a way that those you speak with will seek the Lord. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” (Isaiah 55:6) (Zep 2:3) Tell all that “now is the time” and not tomorrow. “now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor 6:2b)
However, before we open our mouths, let’s start with serious and continual prayer. Jesus said to pray to God in secret and He will reward us openly. “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” (Matt 6:6) Our time is short on earth and our desire is to make the ‘most of it’ while we serve the Creator of all, Jesus Christ. Above all, let us pray for God’s will to be done.
Want answers? Present yourself in your prayer closet and spend that needed time with God, our Father in heaven. Be sure to do this without cell phones and other devices. Just you and God. God will not answer an occasional and careless “Prayer in the Air” while performing other activities. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chron 7:14)
