It Is Well

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”   (Rom 8:38-39)

The security of Christ’s unfathomable love for us should give each of us great comfort in our lives despite the heartache and tragedies that befall you in your lives.  Knowing that, when you received Christ as Lord in your life, (John 1:12) God placed a seal on your soul (John 6:27) and upon departure from this earth you will join Jesus on God’s golden shore, Heaven. After losing a son to Scarlet Fever, and most of his businesses to the Chicago Fire in 1871, Horatio Spafford and his wife lost their remaining four young daughters in a shipwreck in the icy waters off the coast of England in 1873.  It was then when he penned one of the greatest hymns ever written.  'It is well with my soul.'

Below is the second verse:

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let this blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed His own blood for my soul • It is well, with my soul . . .

Friend, God still has plans for you in this life regardless of the tragedies that you may be facing.  But no ‘man’ can pluck you out of the hand of our Lord Jesus.  “neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”   (John 10:28b)

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.  It is well, indeed.
