Got that little chore
out of the way

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Heb 10:25)
Attending church, or worship services, to some can be a burdensome task. Just the process of getting ready for church, gathering up the family, and the travel to and from church, can be a tiresome ordeal. And when a family finally returns home from after the Sunday Service, they may be thinking, “Got that little chore out of the way.” My friend, may I speak on this for a couple minutes? If you have that mind thought, here are three points you may want to consider.
• Are you attending the wrong church?
If your church isn’t Christ Centered, there is something terribly wrong. “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” (Eph 1:22-23) You may ask yourself ‘how can I be sure?’ Here’s the proof. Read your Bible. Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39) Trust the Bible as it has been given to us by God. As for me, I have trusted the KJV Bible since I surrendered my life to Christ decades ago. It hasn’t led me astray.
• Do you have the wrong pastor?
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” (2 Tim 4:3) Read your Bible. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim 2:15) By staying in your Bible, you will be able to tell if your pastor is preaching God’s word or if he is trying to be a ‘man pleaser’. And beware of pastors who scatter the flocks. “For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.” (Jer 10:21) If you need to go to a different church, be sure the pastor is Biblically correct. God’s word will tell you right from wrong. On an important side note, if you have a Godly pastor, love and support him and his family !
• You may be the problem. Is that possible?
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Cor 13:5) Is it possible that you have iniquity in your heart? (Ps 66:18) Dear one, attending church is not a chore. It should be ‘rest,’ and not ‘stress.’ Your family members are there. Jesus said “For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” (Mark 3:35) I am reminded of the verse in Mark 9 when the dad begged for the healing of his son. “And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” (Mark 9:24) Perhaps you may need to cry out to Jesus for help.
