A NEW LIFE - NOT A NEW LEAF

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath
not the Son of God hath not life.”
(1 John 5:12)
How many times have you made a New Years Resolution? I must confess, I have been one of those a few decades ago. Man’s attempts at “being good” and turning a new leaf, have failed miserably since the beginning. “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Rom 3:12) Jesus said, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36) He gave us a New Life and Freedom !
As a Believer, our desire is to honor and glorify God, and to live a life that is pleasing to Him, and not to try to turn a “new leaf” each new year. Remember, our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. (Isaiah 65:6) But Christ has given us a new life and Jesus has left us with two new commandments. Jesus said, the first "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”. (Mark 12:30-31) “And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”
Friends, let us praise and thank the Savior for our new life and not focus so much on turning a new leaf. Let us always be thankful for our new life in Christ. “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” (1 Cor 6:20) Have a blessed and Godly New Year.
And keep telling ‘em all about our Jesus!
And if you don't know Him, call on Him now.
(Romans 10:9-10)
