Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Pro 3:5-6

I have always been blessed by the life of great men of God like Abraham. Not because of the great things they did, although they accomplished mighty things by the power of God.

The thing that blesses me most is the very obvious fact that Abraham as well as other men in the Bible were common men, men who experienced great victories but also personal failures.

In Gen 18:19, God honored Abraham by decrying him as a man who, being a father, would lead his children and his wife to follow the Lord and be obedient to the Lord’s commands. Many other fathers named in the Bible have had difficulties and defeats just like Abraham.

A wonderful truth is revealed here. “God does not use perfect men, He uses men.” Men just like you and me. Men who try and fail, but men who keep on for the glory of God. God can take the least, most unqualified man and make of him a godly dad. A dad (father) who loves his wife as commanded in Eph 5:25. A father who will bring his children up in the ways of the Lord (Eph 6:4).

This man will lead his wife and children to love the Lord and he will lead by example as he loves God with all his heart.

Becoming a godly father and husband is the calling of every married man. While this calling may seem impossible, the Bible tells us otherwise (Matt 19:26).

Now, on a personal note: As a young man I gave my life to Jesus Christ and by His grace (Eph 2:8-9), became a child of God. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife of 40 years, two children who have families of their own and we are all involved in the Lord’s work. We strive daily to be what God wants us to be and to please Him.

My prayer for myself and those reading is that we will allow God to mold us into the fathers and husbands He has called us to be (Proverbs 3:5-6).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

A special thanks to Daniel Gibson of Tennessee Valley Web Design for his involvement in promoting God's holy word and a safe stop on the internet.

Our Friend Daniel Gibson went home to be with the LORD on March 17, 2018

Without Danny the re-posting of this site would have been delayed for another year at least.  Glory to God for Him placing Dan in my path.
