Curse God and Die?  Really?

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

Job 2:9

Each year during my annual “through the Bible” trip, I come upon Job 2:9.  And each time I read it, my heart cringes. How could she say that?  Job was even more ‘heartbroken’ after that remark.  Mrs. Job has a future that is gloomy and bleak to say the least.  She probably is regretting every hateful word she ever mumbled toward our Lord God.  She was definitely not the kind of woman to “write home to mom about.”   My question today is this:  Are we in any better condition than Job’s wife ?

  • Are we honoring God with our love, our lives, our tithes, and our time ?
  • Are we giving credence in our lives to the One who died for our sins ?
  • Are we obeying Christ’s last commandment to us to preach the gospel ?

These can only be answered by you.  Our Lord Jesus went on the cross and paid the penalty for our sins and many today are ignoring this incredible sacrifice.  Many in this world are ignoring our Lord and spending much of their time living for the world, and all that the devil has to offer.   It’s almost as though they are walking around the cross to avoid the greatest gift in their lives.  “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”   (2 Cor 6:17)

Friend: Please don’t think that I am rebuking you as these are questions that I should also answer.  When one ignores Christ, are they also falling into the same category as Job’s wife?   I can’t answer that but, shouldn’t all of us be thankful above all for God’s grace and mercy in our lives?  I can hear you say “Amen” as I type this short message.  “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  (Heb 4:16)

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

and with all thy mind."    (Matt 22:37)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
