But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:57

In the early 90s I liked to party, drinking beer and smoking weed. One day I tried crank. I snorted the drug up my nose and right then I was addicted to Meth. Meth was a lot more stronger in those days. I started out paying $25.00 a bag then $50.00 a bag, and finally $100.00 a bag. For 17 years I was out of control, not paying my bills and not taking care of my 2 boys. I had a good job and lost it for failing 2 drug tests. That didn’t stop me from getting high. After losing all my utilities, I moved to different towns staying with my uncles, but then I had 2 more kids, but still getting high.

So one day I talked to Roley McIntosh of Big Arbor Indian Baptist Church to help me with my bills. Roley and the church helped me with some of the bills but the best thing they helped us with was their prayers (1 Thess 5:17). I know I was lost and headed to hell but still didn’t go to church. But Roley kept stopping by almost every day for 2 months, and praying for me and my family. I still wouldn’t let go of my sinful life. So God worked through my oldest boys when they got saved and were going to church regularly. The Holy Spirit touched my heart (Luke 11:13), breaking me down. One day in April 2010, I asked Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of my sins and cleanse me of my drug addiction. I praise God for taking away the desire to take drugs. As of April 17th of 2017, I will be seven years clean.

Thank You Jesus! I praise God for all the victory Jesus gave me, as me and my wife stopped doing drugs on the same day and got baptized on the same day. We also got married after being together for 20 years. We now have 2 kids at home with us, and also have a 3 year old grandson. God has taken away all the worries and given me patience, peace, love, mercy, and grace. And most of all He died for our sins (1 Cor 15:3). Thank You, Jesus!

Some of the things I do for our church is teaching Sunday School and when our pastor is gone, I fill in for him. I also help in VBS and am involved in Christian outreach in different places. It will be nice to be back in South Dakota this year. It’s an honor to be asked to pray for someone. Prayer is the only way to talk to God and He is faithful. He will answer in His own time.

Well, I hope this testimony helps someone who is struggling with any addiction because God is the answer.

Joe

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
