“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”  (James 1:17).

The family of God should be thankful because He is worthy of our thanksgiving. It is only right to credit Him for “every good and perfect gift” that He gives.   “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”  (James 1:17).

When we are thankful, our focus moves off our own selfish desires and off the pain of current circumstances. Expressing thankfulness helps us remember that God is in control. It is not only appropriate; it is healthy and beneficial to us. Studies have shown that cultivating an attitude of appreciation can lead to lower levels of stress hormones, improved immune function, and even a lower risk of heart disease.

Thankfulness reminds us of the bigger picture, that we belong to God, that we have an abundant life in Him and that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing.   “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”  (Eph 1:3).

Gratitude is a choice. We can choose to be thankful, even when things are tough. In fact, sometimes the toughest times are when gratitude is most important.

• Start your day and express your gratitude to God in prayer. You can also express your thankfulness by keeping a gratitude journal, singing a song of praise, or doing something kind for someone else.

• Meditate on Scripture: Regularly read and meditate on the Bible, which is full of exhortations to be thankful. As you immerse yourself in God's Word, you'll find inspiration for cultivating a heart of gratitude.

Bible verses that talk about thankfulness and gratitude: Psalm 100, Colossians 3:15, 1 Thess 5:18.

“In every thing give thanks:

for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”
(1 Thess 5:18).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Philippians 2:5-8“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

A special thanks to Daniel Gibson of Tennessee Valley Web Design for his involvement in promoting God's holy word and a safe stop on the internet.

Our Friend Daniel Gibson went home to be with the LORD on March 17, 2018

Without Danny the re-posting of this site would have been delayed for another year at least.  Glory to God for Him placing Dan in my path.
