TOO PROUD TO FORGIVE

Gary Waddell - Victory Ministries / Middle Tennessee  7/6/2017

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

(Mark 11:26).

“ Unforgiveness is like setting yourself on fire with the hopes that the recipient will die of smoke inhalation.” As silly as this sounds, unforgiveness is born out of pride.  The Avenue of Pride is a dangerous place for anyone to travel -  even deadly.  Jesus said that our Father in heaven will not forgive those with a heart of unforgiveness.  That should be frightening to one who is "Too Proud To Forgive", even though some sins against another can be very grievous.

'Do not allow your pride to remember what your heart should forget'.   Believer, if you are struggling with an issue of pride, take it to God now.  Ask Him to release you from this sin.  The Bible says "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world"  (1 John 2:16).  Christian, we are not of this world.  Jesus spoke this from the cross while He was being crucified.  "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them"  (Luke 23:34a).

Jesus Christ set the example for us.

Dear Friend: Is it possible that you have never received Christ as Lord and Savior of your life?  If in doubt, ask Him to cleanse this sin and all other iniquities by receiving Jesus today  (John 1:12).  Admitting you are a sinner and asking Jesus to forgive you is the first step.  He has already paid the price and He will change your life if you're willing.  Repent (turn) and follow Him (John 12:26).  He's waiting (Rev 3:20).

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"

(Rom 10:13)

That's a promise.

"And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one

that is indebted to us.

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil"

(Luke 11:4)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Philippians 2:5-8“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
