“And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.”    (Acts 16:10)

There has not been a month since I began pastoring over 55 years ago that someone hasn’t asked what they should do in a certain situation.  What they were saying was: “What is God’s will for my life?”

The Apostle Paul, in Acts 16:6-10, is searching for God’s will.  He tries to go East (v.6) but God blocks this. He tries to go North (v.7) but again the Spirit did not permit them. So, he continues straight until at Troas he has a vision in which God calls him to Greece (v.9).  He awoke “assuredly gathering” that God had shown him His will.

“Assuredly gathering” is the key to finding God’s will.  It means to conclude, prove, or to knit together.  There are four elements that, knit together, will find us God’s will:

1. COUNSEL.  The knowledge of God’s Word and the knowledge of God’s will are one and the same. “Ye do err, not knowing the Scripture.” (Matt 22:29) Read the Bible.

2. COMPANIONS.  In the counsel of spiritual friends, there is wisdom and safety. Daniel had three godly friends.  Surely they prayed together the night God gave him the vision for King Nebuchadnezzar.  Consort with godly friends who will help you find God’s will.

3. CONVICTIONS.  Colossians 3:15 says, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,”  Wait on God until you have the peace of God ruling in your heart. The inner voice of God will be captivating and constant.  “Be still, and know that I am God:”  (Ps. 46:10)

4. CIRCUMSTANCES.  Look for God’s hand in circumstances.  Like in Paul’s case: if He closes a door, He will open a window.  God can speak through our circumstances.

If you are seeking God’s will today, knit together these four elements.

God will reveal to you His precious will for your life.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

A special thanks to Daniel Gibson of Tennessee Valley Web Design for his involvement in promoting God's holy word and a safe stop on the internet.

Our Friend Daniel Gibson went home to be with the LORD on March 17, 2018

Without Danny the re-posting of this site would have been delayed for another year at least.  Glory to God for Him placing Dan in my path.
